The Retreat South Coast
What We Do in Southern California

We specialize in medically supervised detox, followed by structured residential addiction treatment, offering a full continuum of care in one location. As a Southern California detox and residential rehab, we help clients stabilize physically, engage emotionally, and build the foundation needed for sustainable recovery.
The Retreat Difference
Whole Body Healing
Clinically Grounded Care — Practiced Every Day, Not Just Promised
At The Retreat South Coast, clinical care isn’t something that happens in isolation — it’s woven into how each day is structured. Our program is built around medically supervised detox, evidence-based therapy, and intentional daily routines that support both physical and emotional healing.
Detox is overseen by trained medical professionals ensuring safety during withdrawal while allowing clients to feel supported, not institutionalized. From there, treatment continues in a residential setting designed to help clients stabilize, engage, and rebuild.
But whole-body healing goes beyond clinical protocols. Clients are nourished with chef-prepared meals, supported through structured movement and fitness at ReNu Fit, and encouraged to reconnect with their bodies through wellness practices that complement therapy — not replace it. These elements aren’t “add-ons”; they’re part of how recovery is lived day to day here.
Research from the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) shows that medically supervised detox followed by ongoing treatment significantly improves recovery outcomes. We follow these principles closely — and then bring them to life through hands-on care, consistency, and follow-through.
According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), medically supervised detox combined with ongoing treatment significantly improves recovery outcomes. We align our programs with these principles to ensure ethical, safe, and clinically sound care.
Integrated Detox and Residential Treatment
Unlike programs that separate detox from treatment, The Retreat South Coast offers medical detox within a residential rehab setting, allowing clients to remain in one environment throughout early recovery.
This integrated approach improves continuity of care, reduces disruption, and supports a smoother transition from detox into residential treatment—where clients can focus fully on recovery without interruption.
Whole-Person Recovery with Wellness Support
Recovery involves more than clinical therapy alone. Our wellness-centered residential rehab integrates fitness, movement, and restorative practices into treatment to support physical health, stress regulation, and emotional balance.
Through ReNu Fit and wellness-focused programming, clients build strength, establish healthy routines, and develop tools that support long-term recovery alongside medical detox and residential care.

Who Our Programs Are Designed For
The Retreat South Coast is designed for individuals who need medical detox and residential addiction treatment in a setting that prioritizes safety, structure, and whole-person healing.
Our programs are a fit for people who are struggling to stop using drugs or alcohol on their own, who may be experiencing withdrawal symptoms, or who need medical supervision to detox safely. Many of the individuals we treat also face anxiety, depression, trauma, or other mental health challenges that require integrated care during detox and residential treatment.
We work with clients who need more than outpatient care — people who benefit from stepping away from daily triggers, establishing routine, and receiving consistent clinical and wellness support while they stabilize and begin recovery.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who needs medical detox?
Medical detox is recommended for individuals who may experience withdrawal symptoms when stopping drugs or alcohol. This includes alcohol, opioids, benzodiazepines, and other substances that can cause physical or psychological withdrawal. Medical supervision helps manage symptoms safely and reduces medical risk during the detox process.
What’s the difference between detox and residential rehab?
Detox focuses on helping the body safely withdraw from drugs or alcohol under medical supervision. Residential rehab begins after detox and focuses on therapy, mental health support, routine, and recovery skills. At The Retreat South Coast, detox and residential treatment happen in the same setting, allowing for a smooth transition without disruption.
How long does medical detox take?
Detox length varies depending on the substance used, frequency, and individual health factors. For many clients, detox lasts several days to a week. Our medical team evaluates each client individually and adjusts care as needed to ensure safety and comfort.
Can I go straight from detox into residential treatment?
Yes. One of the benefits of our program is that clients can move directly from medical detox into residential treatment without changing locations. This continuity of care supports stabilization and helps clients stay engaged in treatment during a critical transition period.
Do you treat mental health conditions along with addiction?
Yes. We provide integrated dual diagnosis treatment, meaning we address both substance use and mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, trauma-related disorders, and mood disorders. Treating both together improves long-term recovery outcomes.
Is residential rehab right for me if I’ve tried treatment before?
Many clients come to residential rehab after outpatient treatment or previous rehab attempts didn’t provide enough structure or support. Residential care offers a more immersive environment that can be especially helpful for individuals who have struggled with relapse or need time away from triggers.
What is day-to-day life like during detox and residential treatment?
Daily life includes medical check-ins (during detox), therapy sessions, structured programming, meals, and wellness activities. Clients follow a consistent schedule designed to support stabilization, accountability, and recovery while also allowing time for rest and reflection.
Do you provide meals during treatment?
Yes. Clients receive chef-prepared meals designed to support physical recovery and overall wellness during detox and residential treatment. Nutrition is an important part of healing and is integrated into the treatment experience.
What role does fitness and wellness play in treatment?
Wellness is integrated alongside clinical care. Through ReNu Fit, movement, and restorative practices, clients build strength, reduce stress, and establish healthier routines that support recovery during and after treatment.
Do you accept clients from outside Southern California?
Yes. We work with both local and out-of-state clients. Our admissions team helps coordinate logistics, answer questions, and support a smooth transition into detox and residential treatment.

Our son came to us one night to tell us that he had a five-year addiction to Xanax and that he tried to quit on his own, but started having blackouts and anxiety. He googled how to self detox from Xanax and the first thing he read was a warning that self detox from Xanax is extremely dangerous could cause seizures. My son called the support line provided by the website and spoke to a support person who spent a lot of time talking to him and recommended a treatment center in Santa Ana California called “The Retreat South Coast”. The support person called us and explained everything. He told us that this treatment center was very good very qualified staff, nurses, and doctors with 24 seven care. The treatment center is a six maximum patient facility. The support person said that he would arrange flights and call insurance. My son had a flight first thing the next morning. The first seven days is critical detox, where my son has a doctor and nurses watching him 24/7. The staff updated us regularly. Our son said detox was rough but the staff was so supportive and caring made it much easier. He has daily group therapy, which staff makes a potentially uncomfortable situation, very comfortable. They are very supportive and nonjudgmental. When the staff feels like you are ready, they take patients out on well deserved outings to the beach or to the gym, very exciting. He’s allowed 2 phone calls a week but if you need more, they will work with you. His phone calls have been extremely positive. He said that the staff is amazing. Very kind people. The support is amazing and he really feels so cared for. He said he was starting to feel like himself again and was very thankful for what the staff has done for him. My son has decided to stay an extra month for continued support and told us not to worry because he was in the best hands. He is very grateful. We are extremely grateful. Thank you team!Posted on Hans The TechTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This facility made a difficult time for our family much easier. I can honestly say the staff here truly cares. Everyone was kind, compassionate and supportive. I’m thankful that they kept me informed throughout the process and for the positive impact they had on our lives.Posted on MJTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The Retreat helped save my life. Each staff member cares and goes above and beyond to help you on your healing journey. Between therapy, groups, the gym, boxing, and yoga, they truly take a holistic approach. I could feel my emotional, physical, and spiritual health improving each week as I navigated grief, mental health issues, and newfound sobriety. After entering The Retreat with a fear of treatment centers and PTSD, I left feeling like I have a sober family and a whole belt of coping tools. 10/10 recommend to anyone struggling who is ready to transform their life and become the best version of themself.Posted on ash pTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The retreat is an amazing facility with a very encouraging staff. The made me feel welcome and comfortable from the very first call. The beds were comfortable. The food was catered. The staff was EXTREMELY supportive and understanding of emotional, physical, mental and spiritual needs. They also provided family support therapy and provided a wide variety of educational and therapeutic groups. The outings and access to the gym also played a big role in my physical and mental state. Highly recommend you pick up the phone and give them a call.Posted on KelliTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I am incredibly grateful for the owner and clinical team at The Retreat for helping me get my brother placed in a treatment facility that truly fit his needs. Throughout the process, I had the privilege of working closely with both the owner and the clinical staff, and I was consistently met with compassion, honesty, and genuine care. I had reservations at first, because there are so many facilities that prioritize profit over people but The Retreat is not one of them. They operate from a place of integrity, strong values, and deep respect for the people they serve. They took the time to really listen to me and my family, gather all the necessary information, and make sure we felt supported every step of the way. I will always hold this team in my heart and am forever grateful for what they did for my brother and our family.Posted on Andrew austinTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The Retreat was such an amazing experience for me! This place helped me in so many ways. I came in broken and nowhere else to turn. From the owner to the clinicians they really cared for me.
